Rafting excursions

GommoneFrom April to November, Indomita Valtellina River organises excursions in rubber dinghies along the River Adda between Stazzona and Castione. All the necessary equipment is provided by the association (wetsuit, helmet, lifejacket), all that is needed is swimsuit and trainers.

  • Vineyard descent: Departure from Stazzona (municipality of Villa di Tirano), and arrival in Chiuro. There are 15 kilometers suitable for everyone. It can be a first approach for rafting and it takes about two hours, passing through suggestive and unknown tracts of Adda river. You should see the Rhaetian versant, with the famous terraced vineyards. There are rapids of average difficulty.
  • Ancient Bridge descent: Departure from Chiuro and arrival in Piateda. 7 kilometers of pure adrenaline through the famous rapids of Boffetto, that present III and IV grade of difficulty.
    It is an interesting excursion from a cultural and panoramic point of view.
  • The Grey Heron descent: Departure from Piateda and arrival in Castione at the Indomita Valtellina River nautical base. 13 kilometers in the nature of the naturalistic Oasis of the Bordighi forest. Here it’s possible to see characteristic protected species of the riparian habitat.
    Nearby you can also see numerous specimens of grey herons, dippers, mallards, and the very rare kingfisher.
  • Seven Bridge Descent (Complete descent) Departure from Chiuro and arrival in Castione. The descent lasts 20 kilometers passing through the river suggestions.

    It’s possible to organise complete River Adda descents for groups which take from 3 to 8 hours, with the possibility of a packed lunch. A must is the midnight moonlight descent.

Canoe courses and excursions

During the year, Indomita organises and promotes canoe courses and excursions along the River Adda.

  • Individual courses (5 lessons)
  • Group courses (5 lessons, minimum number - 5 participants)
  • Canoe trial

*The association stipulates an insurance policy for each participant to its excursions and courses.
