River Adda

The River Adda rises in Val Alpisella, in the province of Sondrio in Valtellina. The river is 313 kilometers long, and it flows from a group of calcareous mountains. It crosses the provinces of Sondrio, Lecco, Bergamo, Milan, Cremona and Lodi before flowing into the River Po at Castelnuovo Bocca d’Adda. In Valtellina there are the more suggestive and challenging stretches of the river, it is a real ‘playground’ for all the lovers of wild-river sports. The part of the river from Stazzona to Castione is the best for canoe and rubber dinghy descents because here there are some difficult passages that go from II to VI grade. In Boffetto, in the municipality of Piateda, has been set up the canoe stadium, thanks to Indomita. Here was made the first river slalom in Valtellina, that is a real must for true canoeists.
